The Transfer Of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals (TOKTEN) project & the Sudan HIV/AIDS Working Group (SHAWG)
SHAWG has estalished excellent links with TOKTEN (Transfer Of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals), a project sponosred by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
TOKTEN addresses issues surrounding the brain drain in developing countries through collaborative projects that enable experts working abroad to share their knowledge and skills with their national counterparts. The main objective of the TOKTEN project in Sudan is to support the national capacity building of Sudanese institutions in various development sectors, through the transfer of knowledge of the professional Sudanese in the Diasporas. Thus contributing with an invaluable, efficient, and sustained input to the humanitarian, peace and development efforts to rebuild Sudan, while capitalizing on Sudan’s owns human resources.
Recruitment of TOKTEN volunteers is demand-driven, based on request by Sudan national institutions and organizations. Hence, recruited expatriate professionals are placed in various institutions to share their skills and expertise for a short period of time.
